Christmas Baking

Year 5 have had a fantastic time today baking 'Stained Glass Window Christmas Cookies'. First we made biscuit dough, rolled it out then cut it into Christmas shapes with holes in the middle. After they had been in the oven for 5 minutes, we put crushed candy into the holes and returned them to the oven for the candy to melt. When the biscuits had cooled, the candy formed colourful windows in the biscuits.

Salt Dough Christmas Decorations

Today we have used salt dough to make some decorations for the house.

If you would like to have a go at home, the dough is made by adding 1/2 cup of salt to 1 cup of flour. Then gradually add a cup of water  and mix until it is a dough consistency. To dry it out we used a microwave to zap them for 20 seconds at a time until they were hard.
