Science Fair

Dear parents,

We hope you are as excited for science day as we are. The science fair will take place at 10:20 until 11:20 in the basketball court. Here are some reminders for you:

1. Parents of children participating are welcome to watch
2. If you need to help your child set up please feel free to come to school at 9.30 to help set up.
3. Please ensure that all equipment and items your child need for the competition are brought with you from home.
4. The judges will go around the experiments to watch your child carry them out and will ask your child questions to gauge their understanding of the experiment for extra points.
5. If your child needs any help with chemicals and so on then this is fine, although the more your child can do the more points they will earn.

Many thanks,

Miss Hawker

Reading with Reception

3H have started a buddy reading scheme with RP. Year 3 loved being able to help reception improve their reading skills and really enjoyed this style of peer learning. I was really impressed with how mature and caring 3H acted towards the reception class. Well done 3H!

Hieroglyphics

This week we've been looking at how the Ancient Egyptians used to write to each other, we then used hieroglyphics to write our own names.

3H Loves Ancient Egypt

This week 3H have been working very hard practicing for their class assembly. They've had to find out facts, remember lines, learn dance routines and make props. Well done 3H! We're all very excited to show everyone tomorrow!

Below are some more links to some fun Ancient Egyptian themed games.

Build Your Own Pyramid

We've been enjoying finding out all about Ancient Egypt. So far we have researched the different Gods and Goddesses, discovered their love of music and found out who some of the different Pharaohs were.

Below is a great website where you are challenged to build your very own pyramids. I hope you have as much fun as I did playing it!

P.S. Keep bringing in all of your own great facts about Ancient Egypt 3H!

Shadow Puppets

In science we found out that light travels in a straight line and that opaque objects create the darkest shadows. We had lots of fun making shadow puppets and putting on a show for the rest of the class!

Art

In Humanities we found out about hieroglyphics and how the Ancient Egyptian's would write. We used this in our art work by sketching a picture of ourselves as a Pharaoh and writing our names in hieroglyphics. Some of us even wrote secret letters to each other!
