Weekly Review and Preview
We have had a great start to the term with some tricky work on place value using six-digit numbers. We have also started our new Literacy topic based on explanations using some of the 'Wallace and Gromit Cracking Contraption' film clips. We have also been getting excited and are very much looking forward to the residential next week in Rayong.
There have been a couple of questions regarding the residential so I have included some points below:
- PE kit - please send your child to school in their PE kits on Monday morning.
- Pocket money - there will be an opportunity to buy souvenirs at the market on Friday so your child will need no more than 1000 baht. It will be their own responsibility to keep their money safe so I would suggest it being kept in a named envelope or wallet.

I have included another copy of the kit list and timetable below for your reference. Please let myself, Mr Ellis or Kru Anne know if you have any more questions.
Place Value
This week we have started to look at 6 digit numbers including how to say them and what each digit means. To help us we have been using arrow cards and place value grids:

Christmas Baking
Year 5 have had a fantastic time today baking 'Stained Glass Window Christmas Cookies'. First we made biscuit dough, rolled it out then cut it into Christmas shapes with holes in the middle. After they had been in the oven for 5 minutes, we put crushed candy into the holes and returned them to the oven for the candy to melt. When the biscuits had cooled, the candy formed colourful windows in the biscuits.
