English
Debating
This week we continued to develop our debating skills by reinforcing the language to use to make and counter points. The culmination of all this work was debating in front of our classmates at the end of the week.
Scientific Explanations  
Next week we will focus on carrying out science experiments.
We will write up the how we carried out  the experiments, what we found and analyse the data.
Maths
Decimals, number and Place Value
This week we finished working with decimal numbers to 3 places and negative numbers before we moved on to coordinates in the first and second quadrants and translation of shapes.
Geometry and Assessment
Next week we will complete our work on coordinates in  the first and second quadrants and translation of shape before undertaking our half termly assessment.We will then review the papers together.
Unit of Inquiry
Going Further
This week we delved deeper into our lines of inquiry into what are the causes of conflict, what are human rights and equality,strategies used to resolve conflict and the consequences of resolutions.The emphasis was on conflict resolution within school and the children have worked very hard preparing what they need to present this as a role play, drama or puppet show.
Science Week
Next week we will focus on carrying out science experiments.
We will write up the how we carried out  the experiments, what we found and analyse the data.

Reading comprehension and Math’s homework is set online each week and is ongoing. Please ensure that the children are keeping up to date with this.

Going another step further

Preparations for the puppet shows or dramas are progressing well.














Going Further

Last week we used the analogy of a car going over speed bumps in the road, as a way to show how successful conflict relied on the actions of all involved. This week we have been busy creating puppet shows or role plays.

Debating
This week we used our persuasive writing to begin developing our speaking and listening skills. We began  by researching and recording information for debate on a topic of the children’s choosing. We developed this by looking at the language to use to make and counter points.
Debating
Next week we will continue to develop this by reinforcing the language to use to make and counter points, before moving on to debating in front of our classmates at the end of the week
Maths
Decimals, number and Place Value
This week we worked with numbers upto 3 decimal places, multiplying and dividing them by 10, 100 and 1000. We also rounded 2 place decimals to the nearest tenth and whole number.

This week we delved deeper into our lines of inquiry into what are the causes of conflict, what are human rights and equality,strategies used to resolve conflict and the consequences of resolutions.We used an analogy of a car driving over speed bumps to emphasize how conflict resolution is the responsibility of everyone involved.

Next week we will begin to delve deeper into our lines of inquiry into what are the causes of conflict, what are human rights and equality,strategies used to resolve conflict and the consequences of resolutions.The emphasis will be on conflict resolution within school and how can we present this as a role play, drama or puppet show.
