This week, we are starting our new unit called Stories With Historical settings, where we will read and listen to the story of Oliver Twist, a famous novel by Charles Dickens.
Next week, we will chunk up the parts of our novel into manageable sections and create a story mountain as well as ‘boxing up’.
Math
Recognise and compare acute, right and obtuse angles; draw lines of a given length; identify perpendicular and parallel lines; recognise and draw line symmetry in shapes; sort 2D shapes according to their properties; draw shapes with given properties and explain reasoning; draw the other half of symmetrical shapes
Understand how to divide 2-digit and 3-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers using place value and mental strategies; divide numbers by 1-digit numbers to give answers between 10 and 25, with remainders; identify factor pairs and use these to solve multiplications and divisions with larger numbers; use Frog to find complements to multiples of 1000; use Frog to find change from £10, £20 and £50
Humanities
For Humanities, we will look at hurricanes and things we should do if a hurricane is ever upon us, including making our own hurricane survival kit.
Next week, we will make our own buildings out of recyclable materials and test them wioth fans and water to see how they would hold together in a hurricane.
Science
This week we will look at different types of resistance including water resistance and how to measure it.
Next week we will look at how different types of resistance affects us in our daily lives and how we can reduce and produce different types of resistance.
Art
This week, we will show our inventions to the class and present them as well as critique them
Next week, we will look at how we could have made improvement on our inventions.
PSHE
In PSHE, we will at changing around some of our class jobs and making our classroom cleaner and more effective.
Next week we will look at the positives that have happened this term as well as trying to think of ways to make next term better.
