Kanchanaburi Day 2

Day 2 in Kanchanburi has been wonderful. First and foremost, we would like to say how proud we have been of the children. Each and every one of them has been polite, sensible and mature. We have been so impressed with Y3! Even our hotel manager has commented on the excellent behaviour and manners that our children have. The children have now been tucked into bed, we're sure they'll sleep very well. Here are a few highlights of our day....

We would like to wish Beno a very happy birthday and thank his mum for organising such a delicious cake.

Happy Birthday Taipei!

On behalf of Year 3, we would like to wish Taipei a very Happy Birthday.

We hope that you had a very special day!

Kindness Garden

During our most recent PHSE lessons, we have been talking about the importance of kindness. We discussed all sorts of kind acts that we had done and also what type of thing we could do to be kind in the future. We wrote down all of our ideas on flowers and added them to our friendship tree. Please feel free to come into school and take a look.

Have you done anything kind today?

Happy Birthday In!

Year 3C, would like to wish 'In' a very Happy Birthday.

We hope that she had a wonderful day!

Soil Layers

Soil covers so much of the earth, we have been learning about the different layers of soil. Soil is made up of distinct layers, each has its own characteristics that make it different from all of the other layers. These characteristics play a very important role in what the soil is used for and why it is important.

A layer of dark fertile soil made from rotting plants lies at the surface. The, there's the top soil which contains plants roots and dead animal remains. The subsoil has fewer plant and animal remains but it has lots of minerals from the layers above. Finally, there's bedrock which is made of of rock fragments.

To represent this, we gathered materials from different parts of the playground to make examples soil layers. We began by selecting rocks from the car park. Then, we dug deep into the ground to find soil which contained  large rocks. Next, we dug shallow holes in the flower bed and gathered soil which contained smaller rocks. Finally, we made our way to the field where we scooped up top soil and grass. Whilst we were there we met a green little friend whom we named Roger!

Who knew that soil could be so interesting!?
