3C's Fantastic Similes!

During our reading hour in the library, we spotted a brand new book that had been made by Year 5S. We were impressed by the professionalism of the book and noticed that as well as interesting contents, the book also had a clear title, the name of the books illustrators and authors, as well as some pictures to illustrate what the book is about.

We thought that it would be nice to contribute our own class book to the library. There were lots of different ideas as to what the book should be about but eventually we settled on an educational book which would be relevant to all children, especially those in Key Stage 2. Results from a class vote, led us to create a book about 'Similes'. We thought long and hard about how we could entice readers and soon the format of our book was decided. Each child would design a person whose body was divided into 3 sections. They then had to use a simile to describe the different parts of that body. The body was then cut so that it was interchangeable. What giggles we had watching princesses with hair as soft as a blanket turn into ninja turtles with swords as piercing as nails!

Do you like our front cover? We all contributed to the design!

We hope that everybody who visits the library also takes the time to enjoy our book and use some of our ideas in their work.
